The Sneak Peek Oct 04 2024
I Owned My Awesome
I **think** I’ve just about recovered from the most excruciating hangover from Kayleigh Lloyd’s Own Your Awesome Awards (OYAA) last week…
Kayleigh is solely responsible for bringing my fabulous brand to life, after I gave her the brief of ‘it’s a bit like a drag queen riding a unicorn over a rainbow’ 😂
On Thursday we had a wonderful evening celebrating some absolutely phenomenal women, many of whom I am lucky enough to call friends 💖
I love how much magic there is in a room when women support women – it makes my heart sing.
I got to meet some amazeballs people for the first time IRL, as well as hang with my faves,
… and drink ‘face fizz’ (IYKYK)
Oh, and I also was very proud to have received the Authentic Brand Award! 🌈🦄
📸: the AMAZING (and Officially Awesome Award winner – Rosie Parsons 💖)
Thank you to my category judge Laura Brunton⚡
Congrats to all of the nominees – all of the brands nominated were bloody inspirational – and all doing amazing things in the world.
Don’t miss the magic next year!!

TGGT… I wanna go baaaack!
It’s more than THREE weeks since The Great Geek Together in Birmingham, and I think I’m **just about** done coming down from it all now…
I’ve been trying to process it all and really think about why this event got me right in the feels – and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s because all of my efforts were noticed, appreciated and valued.
When I did events in corporate I didn’t feel any of those things, in fact, just the opposite: I found myself striving constantly to do more and be more because no one seemed to care or notice no matter how much I did.
But TGGT has been so different – I’ve found a wonderful bunch of people, and created a wonderful space for us all: it makes my heart hurt to think about it 💖
In fact, I’ve loved it so much I **might** have decided to do another one… 👀 watch this space for deets!
Thank you Harrison Cantel for managing to capture and bottle the magic of the BEST day of my career to date! 💖

Are you Weird Though!?
I’m bringing you The Perceived Weirdness Index: possibly my most favourite bit of research I’ve ever seen!!
I came across this as I was researching for a change management session and the basic principle is that to be an effective change agent, (or get sh1t done and stand out in the world) you have to be “just weird enough” to stimulate the organisation (or your client)
A bit like Goldilocks and her porridge, there’s a fine line to be trod with weirdness and change: if you aren’t weird enough, you’ll just be absorbed into the culture, but beware – if you’re too weird, you’ll not be seen as credible enough and be rejected.
There is however, a ‘sweet spot of weirdness’ (i.e.: weird, but not *too* weird) that is the position of maximum effectiveness… and you might have guessed it – this sweet spot will vary from business to business and group to group.
There are two main factors affecting the effectiveness of your weirdness: the desperation of the organisation (i.e. their burning platform) and the level of trust.
My business is built on my weirdness – I am very much not beige HR hashtag #IYKYK, and I know Wendy loves to be a fellow standout weirdy too…
So: how does your weirdness benefit YOU? Let me know in the comments – and we can all enjoy being weird together!!

My Second Favourite C-Word
It’s time to talk Christmas (#notsorry!)🎄🎁🎄
💝 I LOVE a bit of Xmas gifting (well, gifting in general… IYKYK), and if you’re after quirky, thoughtful and positive vibes, take a peek at this year’s Don’t Buy Her Flowers corporate Christmas gift offer.
Say NO to the same old beige, boring and generic shizzle, and YES to the weirdly wonderful!

The Power of Tiny Gestures
Did you know that individuals send 40 – 150 micro messages in a 10-minute conversation or 2,000 – 4,000 verbal and non-verbal micro messages daily?
I find that mind-blowing!
In fact, according to body language researcher, Albert Mehrabian, communication is actually 55% nonverbal, 38% vocal, and 7% words.
That’s quite something!
